About
I’m Adam, a project engineer in the UK who paints and draws in the evenings. This site is where the hobby lives: portraits and studies in ink, colour pencil and gouache, with oil painting as the goal I’m working toward.
The studio tools started as things I built for my own drawing — notan studies, value maps, palette pulls — and they’re here because they were useful to me and cost nothing to share. Every blog post uses at least one of them, so the sketchbook doubles as the manual.
Alongside the studio work I’m building a world of my own in writing. The art comes first; the world gives it subjects — a character, a place, an illustration to sit beside a short story. It will get its own corner of the site when there’s enough of it to show.
Nothing on this site is finished in the portfolio sense. It’s a record of getting better, posted as it happens.
